Each glowing, deep-orange Hessonite Garnet is wrapped in a custom setting of my signature tree bark texture. The edges of each earring have been sliced and textured to mimic the edges of marigold petals. Marigolds represent the fragility of life, and are known as the flower of the dead.
Dangling down from each base is one cast sterling Cuban Oregano leaf. Cuban oregano is not oregano at all, but it's thick, velveteen, succulent-like leaves are used traditionally to treat sore throats, coughs, and colds. We could all use that in the fall, right? Each casting has immortalized every detail of the original plant in great detail.
The pairs were given a dark patina before receiving a rustic matte finish that brings out all of the details. They're coated in a thin layer of wax to protect this finish. The measure approximately 1.25" long. Only three pairs were made.
Your earrings will come in a jewelry box lined with pressed floral papers. Each box is tied up with metallic twine and adorned with a skeleton leaf vein.
